A three-question ginger taste test

By hilling · · 1 minute

A useful ginger taste test needs three questions: what do you taste first, what stays afterward, and would you want another sip? You do not need a score out of a hundred.

Use two small glasses and label the bottoms so the packaging does not make the decision for you. Serve equal amounts at the same temperature. Take a sip of plain water between samples and leave a little time before tasting again.

Write one sentence for each drink. “Orange first, warm finish, would buy” is more useful than “nice.” If two people disagree, keep both answers. Preferences are the point of the exercise. Use the notes to pick a bottle for yourself, or to decide which flavor belongs in a small tasting flight.
