A ginger shot is not ginger ale
By hilling · · 1 minute
Ginger shots and ginger ale are different drinks, even when both say ginger on the label. A shot is usually a small, concentrated serving. Ginger ale is a carbonated soft drink whose sweetness and ginger character vary by brand.
For a quick comparison, pour a little of each into separate glasses. Look at the ingredient lists, then notice sweetness, bubbles, and how long the ginger flavor hangs around. Neither format tells you everything about sugar or ingredients.
You can also build something between them: add a small splash of a ginger-citrus shot to plain sparkling water. Start with less concentrate than you think you need. It is easier to add another spoonful than rescue a glass that tastes too sharp.
