Whole fruit and fruit juice are different ingredients

By hilling · · 1 minute

Whole fruit and fruit juice behave differently in a glass. Blended fruit contributes texture that a strained juice may not, so swapping them changes both the thickness and the amount of liquid you need.

For recipes, describe what you actually used. “Half an orange, peeled and blended” is more reproducible than “some orange.” If you used bottled juice, note the type and whether it included pulp.

Do not assume a homemade shot has the same nutrition as eating all the fruit that went into it. Juicing and straining leave material behind. If your goal is simply a good drink, focus on a clear recipe and a serving size you enjoy. For a fruit-forward texture, try the orange-ginger smoothie.
