Can lime replace lemon in a ginger recipe?

By hilling · · 1 minute

Lime can replace lemon in many small home drink experiments, but it changes the citrus character. Treat it as a variation rather than expecting an identical result.

Start with a little less lime juice than the lemon amount in the recipe, stir, and taste. Add more only if the drink needs it. The fruit you have on hand may taste different from the fruit used in someone else's recipe.

Keep orange and ginger amounts the same during the first trial so you can judge the substitution. Lime is especially useful to explore in a sparkling drink with cucumber or mint. If the original recipe already tastes good, there is no need to add lemon and lime together just to make the ingredient list longer.
