When to use honey in a ginger recipe

By hilling · · 1 minute

Use honey when you want its flavor, not because a ginger recipe automatically needs it. First taste the mixture without extra sweetener, especially if it already contains orange or another sweet fruit juice.

If you decide to add honey, dissolve a small measured amount in a little warm water before stirring it into a cold drink. That is easier than chasing a thick blob around the bottom of an icy glass.

Honey still contributes added sugar when used as a sweetener; a different name does not make that disappear. Keep it optional in a shared recipe so people can choose the sweetness they prefer. Write down both the honey and the water amounts if you want to repeat the result.
