A small ginger-orange glaze for toast
By hilling · · 1 minute
For one piece of toast, stir a teaspoon of orange marmalade with a tiny pinch of finely grated ginger. Spread it thinly, taste, and decide whether the next slice needs more ginger.
Marmalade already contains citrus peel and usually has a pronounced sweetness. There is no need to add extra lemon or honey before you have tried the simple version. If you prefer a smoother texture, use a smooth orange spread and check its ingredients.
This is a quick serving idea, not a shelf-stable preserve recipe. Mix only what you need rather than stirring fresh ginger into a whole jar and assigning it a new storage life. Sometimes the useful recipe is the one that leaves the rest of the jar alone.
