A best-by date is not a homemade shelf-life formula
By hilling · · 1 minute
Use the date and instructions on the product you actually have. A best-by period from one brand is not a reliable formula for a homemade blend or another maker's juice.
Ingredients, treatment, packaging, and handling can differ. That is why a recipe that tastes similar should not automatically inherit the storage life printed on a commercial bottle. Adding more lemon is not a substitute for a validated safety process.
For a purchased drink, keep the original label and follow its directions, including anything that changes after opening. If the information is missing, ask the maker rather than filling the gap with a guess. For home experiments, make a small amount for the immediate occasion instead of planning a week's supply around a number you found in an unrelated article.
