Reusing a small glass bottle thoughtfully

By hilling · · 1 minute

Before reusing a small glass bottle, check whether the bottle and closure are suitable for the job you have in mind. A one-time drink package is not automatically designed for repeated food storage, heating, freezing, or pressure.

A clean, intact bottle can also have a non-food second use, such as holding a single flower. Keep that use separate from bottles intended for drinks, and do not return a container to food use after storing non-food materials in it.

For recycling, check your local program's instructions for the glass, cap, and label. They may be handled differently. Reuse is a practical choice with limits, not proof that one package has a smaller environmental footprint in every situation. Avoid environmental claims that the actual packaging details cannot support.
